Metro: Last Light

Imagine you are in the year 2034, the world has been laid to waste and you are a Russian survivor living in the metro system under Moscow. Your stations are under constant attack from mutants, while at the same time the Reds and the Nazis are fighting to control your station instead of surviving as a race the humans prefer to kill each other. This is the base story behind the Game Metro: Last Light, the sequel to Metro 2033; both are based on the books by Dmitry Glukhovsky. I will not spoil the game for anyone I will simply review the game itself. To start off I am not a huge graphics guy I prefer story content over graphics and this game is amazing in both. The game looks amazing, there were a few times when people were talking and the heads were just moving instead of the lips but I can live with that. The lighting in the game was amazing from the way it lit faces to the shadowing of the characters. Above ground the designers really captured what a destroyed Moscow would look like in the spring. The arrival of spring gave me hope, spring brings new life and I got hope for the metro. The grass, water, and sky were built perfectly even the rain was amazing; it forced you to wipe off your gas mask, something new. When your gas mask got dirty, bloody, or damp you could wipe it off instead of just waiting for the effects to disappear, like in most games. There is some nudity in the game, and I must say that the developers did a good job at animating the breasts of the females. All in all the game has an amazing look and just built off of what Metro 2033 developed. The controls of the game changed a bit, they were not hard to change to though. The controls now follow more of a traditional FPS rather than the Metro style. Instead of cycling through your several weapons using the D pad you now are only limited to three weapons and you cycle using Y ( I am talking on the Xbox). To put your mask on you must hold the LB and then press the X button, same to change your filter, hold LB and press A. This was confusing at first but it made it easier in the long run. You can change ammunition types through the same process except you hold Y then you can change your thrown weapon or you can change your ammo to your Military Grade Ammo. Like I stated as you play the game more the controls become natural. The story line is amazing in the game just as it was in Metro 2033. Like I said I will not spoil it but there are turns in the story. There is the perfect mix of stealth and action so you do not get bored just sneaking around the entire game. Even though there is no multiplayer there is the ranger mode you can play after you beat the game the first time. Every franchise can take a note from the Metro games, to make a good game you do not need multiplayer, the story mode should make the game with multiplayer being second, it brings us back to the roots of gaming. Now it is time for me to finish up my review, Metro: Last Light is an amazing game it is good for anyone over the age of 17 since it is M rated, even if you are new to the Metro you will enjoy the game. I give the Game a 5 out of 5. Oh and as for if you survive the Metro you will have to play and find out yourself

He Just Enjoys His Job

http://news.yahoo.com/blogs/sideshow/snow-plow-driver-covers-cars-driveways-purpose-171946901.html Again read this article and watch the video then read this. So some background it snowed a lot on the East Coast so its no surprise that they need to shovel their sidewalks and driveways as well as the county doing its job and plowing the streets. The plowman is an employee of a private firm that plows the streets, this certain plowman seems excited about doing his job. The reporters are singling this plowman out for enjoying his job. Is it a crime that he takes some fun in enjoying his job? They seem to enjoy their job and all they do is report the news, he is actually doing good for the people in the town, although he does it in a rude way. Personally I don't see the big deal when people throw their snow on the street and it gets plowed back in. At 1'25" seconds the reporters say that every plowman does it, so why are we singling this one guy out. Also it it illegal to throw your snow in the street, so why are people so mad when snow gets back into their driveway they are the one breaking the laws. As for plowing snow on peoples cars, they parked on the street they knew it would happen. While he does take a rather rude approach to the plowing by mocking the people he is not in the wrong. I don't see how this is news or why people are mad at this guy he is just doing his job and enjoying it that's no different than any other person doing their job and being rude behind the scenes.

Lanza's Photos and Details Broken Down

First I encourage you to read this article, then I will drop some knowledge on you.  The first thing I notice is the title “New photos, details emerge of Newton mass shooter Adam Lanza” the capitalization is all wrong; the first letter of every word that is important should be capitalized.  Now I am not the best writer, as you will see, but this is a simple thing they teach you in journalism school.
Now I would like to say I am in no way condoning what he did, I feel sorry for the families that lost loved ones in the shooting, but someone needs to enlighten the readers and expose flaws in the writing of these articles.

The article states that Adam had been spending more time alone in his mother’s home; it then goes on and says that he suffered from  Asperger's which made social interactions challenging.  No one notices he had Asperger’s that is why he was antisocial and isolated himself.  His mother on top of that encouraged the isolation by attempting to make him more independent.  Now I am no parent but if a child is isolating themselves wouldn't you want to fix the problem not encourage the isolation?  I understand that no one could have predicted the shooting that had happened but it could have been avoided had the parents took more interest in his life instead of encouraging the isolation he was placing himself in.

In the middle of the article the author takes a jab at violent video games.  Now my view on violent video games are that the games don’t make people violent, there is research to back both sides but the heard of the matter is if the parents take more interest in the life of their child they are less prone to do violent things.  The article says that Adam reloaded his rifle more often than he should have and that is because he learned it from video games.  This is not true it is some common sense.  Adam had spent a lot of time at the rifle range with his mother and he is smart so he knows the more rounds you have in the rifle means the more you can shoot.  Also he knew from using a rifle that if you don’t deplete the magazine it is quicker to reload causing you to put more rounds down range.  Video games don’t teach you how to reload a rifle it’s the hands on experience that teach you how to use guns.

Now the article is not all bad, I do give the author props for saying “Bushmaster Semi-Automatic Rifle” instead of assault rifle.  The author did do something right in an otherwise flawed article.  Now these posts are just my thoughts.  I use common sense to help better the population.  I just translate the article for people to understand, I hope I opened your eyes to a different side of the view.
